May at Nomos
May was yet another month that was dominated by COVID-19. Here is a snapshot of what we got up to:
- It’s now been approximately 10 weeks since we started working from home! The time we’ve saved time on our respective commutes has been spent as productively as possible, with all of us attending a range of webinars, virtual CPDs, training courses and roundtable discussions with the Migration Institute of Australia. Technology has not only enabled us to continue to work throughout the pandemic, it’s also allowed us to enhance our skills whilst in lockdown.
- There has been a lot of discussion in the media about temporary workers, when we are likely to see Australia’s international borders reopen and what the migration programme may look like moving forward. Minister Tudge has already given us his view on what he anticipates this to be. Whilst nothing is set in stone yet, we are already working with clients to assist with their workforce planning into the new financial year.
- We are seeing NSW and the other States and Territories starting to ease restrictions in an attempt to return Australia to some semblance of normality. Our clients are reporting that the return to work is not without challenges, but has generally been very well-received. We are pleased to see our clients getting back to business and are looking forward to returning to our office in the CBD soon as well!
That’s the Nomos wrap-up for May. We hope you all continue to stay safe as you navigate your own return to the workplace, and we will see you next month!
