January at Nomos
Welcome back to work! After a wonderfully relaxing break, our team all returned to the office this month, ready to roll up our sleeves and get to back to doing what we love.
- We hit the ground running this year, with decisions and requests for further information for many of our clients. We have had movement in the ENS, TSS, New Zealand Family Relationship and partner visa programmes. We have also seen movement at the AAT, which is reflected in their figures for the second half of 2020 (see below). All in all, an encouraging start to the year for many clients.
- Recent statistics from the AAT indicate that in the 6 months to 31 December 2020, the Tribunal decided a total of 11,277 review matters. As at 31 December 2020, they had approximately 60,000 cases on hand. Of these, 23% of the migration caseload are cases relating to nominations or sponsor approvals, 18% relate to partner visa applications and 9% relate to temporary work visa applications. In respect of processing times, you can expect to wait an average of 826 days (approximately 27 months) for a decision on a decision relating to a nomination or sponsor approval, 641 days (approximately 21 months) for a decision on a decision relating to a partner visa and 715 days (approximately 23 months) for a decision on a decision relating to a temporary work visa.
As we bid farewell to a tough year that presented many unique and lasting challenges for all, we look to the new horizon of 2021 with optimism. 2020 taught us how to come together to battle a common challenge. As we step into 2021, we at Nomos wish you all only the best for the year ahead which we will once again face together.
