In recognition of its 20th anniversary, the Australian Pro Bono Centre marked the occasion on National Pro Bono Day (17 May) by publishing 20 stories from Australian law firms that have taken the initiative to be involved in the pro bono community. The purpose of these stories is to convey to the legal profession and wider community just how important pro bono work is and how impactful it can be in changing the lives of those involved.
Nomos has a strong commitment to pro bono work, and we have been included amongst these 20 stories of change for our work with a particularly vulnerable client, a survivor of family violence, whom we helped reunite with her children in Australia. Click here to read our story.
Our story is featured alongside some other remarkable tales of pro bono work that involve the pursuit of justice, the fight for fairness and the quest for systemic change where it is needed most. As the Centre says, these stories “collectively produce a picture of how pro bono is a powerful force for good in situations where no other legal assistance is available.”.
